2005 saw the culmination of years of planning and major investment into the Castle Cement Padeswood Works, North Wales. Investment focused on the group’s new Kiln 4 which became fully operational as the most modern kiln in europe for levels of environmental control and performance.
The roofing and cladding division of CSWIS, was appointed to project manage the 27 week programme at the complex. The new kiln is fed raw materials from a 95 metre preheater tower, the exterior of which has been finished using Corus single skin R40 sheets.
The tower alone utilises some 9,000 square metres out of a total 23,000 square metres of the Corus panels and EJOT supplied over 100,000 variants of the Super SAPHIR® self drilling fasteners. Each fastener head was moulded and colour-matched to either the hamlet or goosewing grey of Corus panel.
Speaking for CSWIS, project manager Terry Cavanagh said, “we were working to a strict 27 week schedule which was completed on time and without any hitches. That requires absolute quality of product and supply, which as a manufacturer, EJOT has a commitment to provide. The fact that the project was completed without any accidents whatsoever can in part be attributed to the quality of the fixing materials”.
EJOT Super SAPHIR® fasteners are manufactured from grade 304 austenitic stainless steel, with welded carbon steel drill points and leading threads. This enables effective drilling and tapping at high speed providing maximum performance. They are zinc coated for aesthetic reasons and waxed to lubricate the surface during installation. |
