In January 2002 An Lanntair was awarded £3.06
Million from the Scottish Arts Council National Lottery towards
the development of a new arts centre on a prime site on the
sea front in Stornoway. The development is of key strategic
regional importance to the arts and culture in the North West
Highlands and is the largest arts development in the Highlands & Islands
since Eden Court opened in Inverness in the 1970s. The other
main funding partners are Highlands & Islands
Special Transitional Programme (ERDF), Western Isles Enterprise
and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council). The
project started on site on the 10th November 2003 and is
projected to take 77 weeks to completion.
As the appointed roofing contractor,
Briggs Roofing & Cladding
of Glasgow chose EJOT® for its capability to supply a complete
range of fasteners and anchors specifically designed for single
ply applications.
"EJOT®’s FDD anchors fitted
the bill perfectly" said
Tony Lawther. "The new Arts Centre has an in-situ concrete
main roof and the FDD is very effective for fixing insulation
and singly ply waterproof membranes to concrete decks."
"So
much so that they withstood winds up to 124mph in November, this
figure was recorded before the weather station blew away, the
actual figure may have been a lot more!"
The FDD is a nylon
hammer-set anchor, with an integral washer and plastic headed,
zinc plated carbon steel expansion pin. Its ease of installation
puts it ahead of other products in the marketplace.
In addition the EJOT® flat roofing range includes deck fasteners,
plastic tube washer systems, stress plates and perimeter fasteners.
