Woodlands Community Resource Centre is an environmentally sustainable building which takes advantage of natural energy sources. The building is sunk into the Memorial Gardens at Newham, with "living" landscape actually running over it. The purpose of the unit is to act as a regenerative force within the park and to be a focus for further development of the park landscape.

WCCR will house a number of community focused facilities including an internet library, cafe, and food co-op and main premises for Sure Start North Canning Town ; all of which are products of an "inclusive design" policy that involved extensive public consultation.

Eger Architects’ have strong inclinations towards resolving issues over the integration of built form and landscape and The Resource Centre at Newham seems to exemplify a strong solution. EJOT® was consulted by the firm and asked to provide a facade fixing solution
that was practical, environmentally friendly and visually unobtrusive.

The EJOT® range of insulation anchors are designed to meet a broad range of applications with all substrates catered for. A combination of one-piece support anchors were recommended for the fixing of cork insulation to masonry. DDA is a hammer-set, nylon drive-in anchor whilst DDS is a zinc-plated, hardened carbon steel self-tapping fixing. Both have integral washers and are engineered for speed and efficiency.

The supply was made complete by the use of Super - SAPHIR® for fixing the facade. EJOT Super - SAPHIR® fasteners are manufactured from grade 304 austenitic stainless steel, with welded carbon steel drill points and leading threads. This enables effective drilling and tapping at high speed providing maximum performance. They are zinc coated for aesthetic reasons and waxed to lubricate the surface during installation. Integral colour heads provide the additional option of achieving a perfect colour match with external materials.
