Designed for direct installation into cast or drilled holes and provides
up to 40% production savings over metric screws.
ALtracs and ALtracs PLUS achieve very similar strength values as metric
screws and will also provide excellent resistance to vibration, reducing the
need for further components.
Cost saving over metric screws, without compromise performance is key
assembly success. Costs can be reduced by up to 30% by using
threadforming technology.
That’s why EJOT has developed ALtracs PLUS; a self-tapping screw with
properties very similar to a conventional 10.9 metal fasteners. The new
fastener’s metric compatibility is still guaranteed.
Compared to metal fasteners with a 60° flank angle, the screw’s low-damage
displacement of the light metal enables a low installation torque through an
optimised screw point design. The thread flanks in the screw point are smaller
in diameter and are also tapered to the front This produces an improved "start"
to thread-forming and a centred alignment, even in cast holes with hand-held
assembly tools.
The new ALtracs® Plus is also designed for multiple repeat assemblies. This is important in the
case of a repair scenario, in the same way that metric screws are completely interchangeable
and can be fastened into the tapped hole.
