EJOT UK’s range of storm washers is a critical component in high-performance roofing and cladding systems, specifically engineered to enhance the security and weather-tightness of fixed profiled sheets.
Purpose & Function
These storm washers are designed to be used in conjunction with a fastener (typically a self-drilling or self-tapping screw) when fixing profiled metal sheets, such as trapezoidal or sinusoidal profiles, to a building's substructure. Their primary function is two-fold: to form a robust, water-tight seal and to provide increased resistance to wind uplift.
The washer itself is commonly manufactured from pressed aluminium and features a bonded layer of open-cell EPDM rubber. This construction allows the washer's profile, available in shapes that perfectly match the sheet's crown (the highest part of the profile), to be compressed against the sheet during installation.
