EJOT UK’s Applitec Centre is the UK’s foremost fastening technology laboratory, uniquely equipped to support the development and rigorous testing of safety-critical rail components. From high-vibration rolling stock chassis and bogies to line-side infrastructure, signalling, and track safety systems, Applitec is a solutions-based hub where design, compliance, and application-based learning work hand in hand.

XDLM Elemental Metallurgy Analysis

The XDLM equipment uses X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis to determine the precise elemental composition of materials. This allows us to verify exact steel grades and alloy integrity for specialised rail components. It supports strict quality control, ensuring anti-corrosive treatments and specialized alloys meet line-side structural standards.

Tensile & Fatigue Analysis

In the rail industry, understanding elastic vs. plastic deformation is paramount. The yield strength of a steel fastener is where it transitions from flexible recovery to non-recoverable deformation. Our laboratory maps the UTS to pinpoint exactly when a fastener will fracture under high-stress conditions, giving rail engineers absolute performance certainty.

By bridging SolidWorks® CAD software and high-precision 3D printing, we rapidly perfect prototype modifications for custom and bespoke hardware. This allows rail OEMs to validate physical form and fit within days rather than weeks, keeping complex infrastructure projects moving forward.
