The totally bespoke EJOFORM® concept

EJOFORM® provides great versatility in the range of possible applications for fastening technology and the production of cold-formed fasteners. This is EJOT’s unique multi-stage cold forming process that creates high quality fastening elements in steel, aluminium or partly copper, capable of performing multiple functions in one application. Each function, such as a bracket, stop bolt, spacer, adjustment element holder, breakbolt or distance sleeve, is created from up to six forming stages to the core wire section.

Importantly, every EJOFORM product is totally bespoke to the application, each developed with the common goals to maximise joint strength, save cost through parts reduction and optimise application. EJOT ensures continued success with EJOFORM® components by providing expert monitoring from the first concept idea to the launch of production.

"Calculable" advantages – an example

The special optimisation possibilities for EJOFORM® products can best be explained with an example. The EJOFORM® cold-formed component shown here (image to the right) is produced in a 5-step cold-forming process and it saves ca. 25% of material compared to a turned part (image to the left). Additional application engineering advantages also arise with this EJOT solution through the integrated external hexagon recess transferring much higher tightening torques compared to the slotted recess. The cold forming part can also be equipped with every type of thread (here DELTA PT®) in order to meet all possible requirements and materials.

The economic benefits of using EJOFORM® products are chiefly due to improvements in the manufacturing procedure. The relatively high launch costs, caused by high tooling costs, amortise with a certain quantity depending on the product, due to the high efficiency and economy. Compared to a turning or milling production, the relatively high output of forming machines results in a significant improvement of the costs structure, which becomes even more distinct with large quantities. In fact, material cost savings of up to 80% - depending on the product design - are realistic.

Versatile finishing

The accurately manufactured EJOFORM® fastening elements can be adjusted or improved through different processes. This means that, depending on the application and individual requirements, the EJOT teams can deliver optimised fastening technology from a single source.

EJOFORM® parts with complex geometry can be machine finished to achieve, for example, drill holes, clearance grooves, balls or undercuts. Internal threads which are formed and not cut can also be achieved where required.

EJOFORM® products are available in a variety of materials, mainly tempered steel and aluminium, but if required the parts can also be manufactured from stainless steel. The common strength category is achieved through heat treatment according to DIN ISO 898, for special threads the respective EJOT company standard is applied. Galvanic coatings correspond to DIN EN ISO 4042, and other platings, such as those capable of withstanding up to 1.000 hours salt spray testing, are also possible.
