Especially in the automotive industry, there are more and more applications for lightweight materials since a significant reduction of CO2 emissions can only be achieved by way of considerable weight reductions in vehicle design.
Working with bridge design specialists Roughan & O’Donovan (ROD) and project engineers Qualter Hall, the LIEBIG Ultraplus undercut anchor from EJOT UK was identified as the preferred solution for this high load application. A series of these mechanical anchors were installed in lengths of 1.09m and 1.45m with an M36 diameter after the hole preparation was completed by drilling specialists Core Cut.
In many circumstances it will work just the same in a hole depth far greater than necessary, providing the marking knurls on the anchor are flush or even below the concrete surface. This eliminates the need for another special tool, setting equipment, which again makes life easier for the installer and reduces the reliance on specialist knowledge of how to use it.

Setting is a simple process when using a correctly set torque wrench. This method is used for the BLS (Stud with Nut), SLS (Hexagonal Bolt) and BLS-P (Extended Stud with Nut).
It is universally suitable too, providing a solution for mineral fibre, EPS, XPS and PIR tapered insulation. This makes the fastener suitable for any insulation depth of between 70mm and 500mm, using fewer fastener / washer combinations than any other current mechanical fixing approach. This can easily reduce fastener use for a slope insulation of 120 to 260 millimetres by as much as 25%, subject to the application, a site survey and pull out test.
